About Me

I first qualified as a massage therapist here in Edinburgh in 1998.

In 2003 I completed my training as a Manual Lymphatic Drainage(MLD) practioner, and in 2007 I began working with people with lymphoedema.

If you have either primary or secondary lymphoedema, I can provide Combined Decongestive Therapy(CDT), MLD and Compression Bandaging.

MLD Accreditation

I trained with the Vodder School in Austria, which is one of two schools in the world authorized to teach the original Vodder method of Manual Lymph Drainage. This method is the most widely known, researched and used method.

Therapists, like myself, who are listed on the Vodder School website are required to attend courses every 2 years to ensure that they stay up to date with the latest techniques and research.

Massage Qualifications

My massage skills range from Reflexology to Indian Head Massage, Therapeutic Massage to Deep Tissue Swedish Massage, and include Slavic and Pre-and Peri-Natal Massage.

With the Pre-and Peri-Natal Massage I am qualified to massage women throughout their pregnancies, and I sometimes support women during labour. Women hoping to conceive have sometimes found reflexology to be very beneficial.

MLD and Massage Memberships

I am registered with the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation, which works with the General Council for Massage Therapy (GCMT) in developing and maintaining standards, and can be found in their online directory.

I am also registered with MLD UK which promotes standards and research among Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) practitioners.

The Vodder School

MLD is an advanced massage technique which moves the skin over the underlying tissues using repetitive and circular movements.

The technique was pioneered by Dr. Emil and Estrid Vodder during the 1920's and 1930's. In the late 1940's they helped found the Vodder school in Austria, whose mission is

"To provide the highest quality education in the original Dr. Vodder method of Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy and to ensure the continuing competence of practitioners trained by the Dr. Vodder School."
